Have you been struggling at the gym or have you been noticing
that your regular daily walks just aren't removing that unwanted weight
you put on over winter? Perhaps these quick tips might help!
1. Exercise: Try going for a walk for at least 20 minutes per day and after a few weeks increase that up to 30 minutes or so, and if you're already doing that then perhaps stepping your walk up to a slow jog or doing some short intervals would be a good idea. - Increase the demand on the body and it won't have a chance to hold onto that unwanted baby belly!
2. Eat More Green Vegetables: Do you enjoy a nice salad or some steamed vegetables? If not, it could be a good idea to get re-acquainted with these fat burning foods! These not only help to raise your resting metabolic rate (your ability to burn up the food you eat as fuel rather than to store it) but they also help to decrease cravings and increase your overall mood and sense of wellbeing through their energy stabilizing effects.
3. Stay Away From Scales: If you're one of these people who every morning when you wake up and every night you go to bed you weigh yourself... I urge you to drop the habit. The only thing you will be losing... Is your motivation! Why? Because our bodies are more than just weight! They are amazing survival machines with the capacity to not only trick you into thinking you're not making progress with your waist-line or thighs but to also trick your mind into believing you haven't even changed at all - This makes actually achieving your goal very difficult indeed! Instead, use photos or if you're shy in front of the camera (which I used to be...) take girth measurements around your arms, chest, waist and hips using a tape measure.
4. Surround Yourself With Support: Make sure that you're environment is conducive to providing you with the results you desire. If you're goal is to lose weight tone up and get more fit. Then make sure the people you surround yourself by understand the importance of supporting you during this 'transitional period' of your life. By transition I mean, moving from one state of mind to another - If you want to look different, you'll need to think and act different to what you have in the past.
5. Use Affirmative Self-Talk: Be affirmative with what it is that you want to achieve. If you want to lose five kilo's in the next 3-4 months, then affirm the thought to yourself every day, "I have lost five kilo's of weight easily and effortlessly. I find managing my eating and exercise program to be fun and enjoyable." - The quality of your self-talk greatly dictates your long-term success.
